Western NY has a wide variety of assets in the energy field. These resources include:
- Companies active in alternative energy research, products and/or services
- Leading research universities
- Special facilities (wind tunnels, instrumentation centers, STEP, etc.)
- Unique and relevant manufacturing capabilities (welding, fabrication, coatings, etc.)
- Business assistance organizations (incubators, SBDC, Insyte Consulting, etc).
- Funding sources (SBIR/STTR, TIP, Excel Partners, Angel investment, and Venture Capital (Smartstart, UNYTECH, UVANY, etc.)
- Consultants
Directed energy is primarily concerned with technology development associated with energy production and use. This inventory will not typically include: retailers of goods and services, machine shops, “green” companies, installers, and the many companies you can easily find in the phone book or in a google search.
